By learning to play jazz guitar, you learn to master the balance. Most jazz guitarists led to believe that everything they need to do is learn how to be the extent of the fingers and where their learning ends. When it time to play solos and improvisations, they are frustrated because they find it hard, play fair too. The real problem is not that the game is an improvisational difficult or beyond their abilities. The real problem is, they have not learned to master the scales as they thought.
Basically, there are five skills that must be mastered, because they are the basis for improvisation and solo set. If you do not master all five skills in your teaching jazz guitar, then you can have a difficult time for improvisation, because it is not really the magnitude and not as a result of an idea of know-scale. The five skills are: ears, eyes, intelligence, finger and apply. Let’s see how they work for us.
How-to # 1: Learn to listen to the tone of the scale, so that when you hear a song, you know what notes they are. This is an amazing skill that most people do not develop because they rely on notes, Fakebooks, and their teachers.
How-To # 2: Learning to see the scale on the handle. Your eyes will help you to develop technically correct hand positioning and technique of the fingers when playing the scale.
How-to # 3: Learn how to play scales from any position on the grip. Do you know your guitar gypsy jazz inside and out. If you learn the finger positions for a scale, practice playing the scale of different shades.
How-to # 4: Learn the music theory behind the scale. The knowledge of the notes, sounds, and if the scale can be played in an improvisation.
How-To # 5: Learn to use the extent of the musical way. Many jazz guitarists do not know where a tune might fit into a short improvisation. Access to this area will certainly work, find out what works and what does not.
