The Fender Jazz Bass was created in 1960 as a guide for low Jazzmaster guitar to life, as thought the design of Fender neck would appeal more to jazz musicians of the neck is quite thick, thin but with a key. It also has a similar sound of the bass, as the Rickenbacker 4001 with many medium and light tones.

It is also very similar, the Jazz Masters-formed edges, a body section and the famous “decentered” size of the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar then. Stylistically, the only difference to the Jazzmaster is the upper half, where two Stratocaster style offset relief. The Jazz was created in 1960 for the life style of luxury. His original intention was to convince the jazz bassist who uses the low clearance on bass.

It has a Strat-style headstock, which has a Precision Bass Stratocaster style configuration, a strat-shaped scratch plate and, as already mentioned, a master of jazz-meets-Strat body shape. It has two microphones and three simple two volume controls and tone. The Jazz Bass has 20 frets, about 21 or 22 who have the lowest delivered. It is marketed as a snub to play the market and the traditional finger style playing well because of the versatile tonal range.

The mics are in front of each wound, so when both are at full volume, the two pickups and a humbucker. This means tonal range of jazz, ideal for power trios and small groups in need of outstanding sound. The Bass Jazz Bass, a design widely emulated because of its practical design and versatility. The Jazz has been widely copied by companies from market entry-level budget high-end manufacturers such as limited production Sadowsky.

The Jazz has spread very far, perhaps more than any other electric bass guitar. He has used over the years by Jaco Pastorius were (lined with possession of a battered model without plate scraping and scratching the surface), Duff McKagan of Guns N ‘Roses, Velvet Revolver, Geddy Lee of Rush, Tom Araya of Slayer (Jazz Bass early on some concerts Slayer earlier, and before his signature BC Rich Bass was started), flea market in the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, The Who John Entwistle and John Paul Jones Led Zeppelin (used by a jazz session in 1961 for his work in Led Zeppelin).

Currently, there are eight jazz bass lines available to the Standard Series, American Deluxe Series, American Standard Series, American Vintage Series Highway One Series, Classic Series, Custom Series Classic and Deluxe Series, all available with different colors. There are also 24 frets, with 4 or 5 strings. Since 2005, there is also a bass Jaguar, which is similar to jazz bass, but with some additional switches control the electric guitar like the Jaguar. (In fact, one of the main reasons, the jaguar has never been as successful as other Fender guitars is the presence of complex electrical equipment, making it more difficult to configure and use).
